The Bloody Judge (English review)

The Bloody Judge (Jesus Franco, Italiy, West Germany, Spain, Uk/1971)
Duration : 91’ Genre : Horror

End of the XVI century. After the dead of Charles II the judge Jeffreys hunt suspicious witches just for setting his personal dictatorship…

European production written by Harry Alan Towers inspired by Michael Reeves’s Witchfinder General and directed in a quite unusual way by Franco looking almost scared by the topic and also by Christopher Lee starring perfectly the judge without any kind of big ham. For sure a movie to recover. Starring also Howard Vernom as the hangman and Margaret Lee. Aka “The Night of the Blood Monster”. With a sequel and five different versions from 82 to 98 minutes.
