Night warning by William Asher (USA/1982)
Running time: 96′ Genre: Horror
Young Billy is an orphan raised by his morbid aunt Cheryl, who in a mad escalation will reveal all her diabolical nature….
A decidedly disturbing b-horror that mixes gore (the cellar sequences are terrifying) with themes such as incest, rape and homophobia, and is nevertheless one of the “sickest” of the decade. Worth rediscovering. In the cast a very young Bill Paxton and Bo Svenson (Reverend Harmony from ‘Kill Bill‘ ) as Detective Joe Carlson. Susan Tyrrell plays Aunt Cheryl. It was nominated for a ‘Saturnaward’ (basically a kind of Oscar for horror and science fiction) for best film. The original title was “Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker” literally “The Butcher, Baker and Nightmare Maker)….
